04/13/2006: "A question of identity"

I'm fascinated to hear about Danuta's change of identity. My publisher says that murder mystery readers "read writers, not books", so it's better to stick to one name, even if the book is slightly different to your previous offerings.

What do people think? How many identities should a writer have? Jeanette Winterson writes Lesbian Lit as well as children's books. I write everything (poetry, articles, books) under one name. Is that a mistake?
