12/07/2006: "gods in Alabama, by Joshilyn Jackson"

To build on the previous post, this book has a great title: "gods in Alabama". The title is misleading: no, it's not a litarature treaty akin to The gods of Small Things. The cover is even more misleading: lots of blue sky, clouds and a car on the road. Oh no, I hear you groan, not another American Road Trip Story!

Well, it's a murder mystery, actually. Joshilyn Jackson crafts a clever plot with lovable if quirky characters, great dialogue and all things that a good book make.

It's also more than a murder mystery: it's a book that will make you a better person for having read it. Jus tin time for Christmas.

Have a lovely festive season, everybody.
