Essex Book Festival’s Golden Age of Crime

CWA members Helen Barrell, Simon Brett and Isabelle Grey are hosting various events within the Essex Book Festival’s homage to Golden Age crime writing – and crime writing today!

Join Essex Book Festival for a weekend of sleuthing in Southend-on-Sea. This year’s line up includes Sophie Hannah on writing the first Poirot novel since Agatha Christie’s death; Frances Fyfield, Jill Paton Walsh and Simon Brett celebrate the long-lasting legacy of Dorothy L Sayers; Helen Barrell hosts a Criminally Good Afternoon Tea, with real life stories about poison and panic in the 1840s; debut crime writers join our ‘Fresh Blood’ panel; there’s also a Golden Age of Crime Quiz Night; Charles Beck shares insights into Dennis Wheatley’s life and work; Sheila Mitchell talks about HRF Keating; and Isabelle Grey hosts a crime-writing workshop.
